DMPOs can be an attractive option for individuals and families. You may want to consider enrolling in a DMPO if:
You are without health insurance. DMPO membership may allow you to pay less for health services.
You are waiting on health insurance coverage. Most DMPOs have no waiting period. If you recently started a job and are waiting for coverage, a DMPO may be an interim option for you.
You are not eligible for health insurance. A DMPO does not restrict membership because of age or medical history. If you are unable to get health insurance, a DMPO allows you to receive medical care at a lower cost.
You are insured but still have significant out of pocket costs. A DMPO has no maximum limits. This may translate into savings for you. Before joining a DMPO, check with your health insurance company to ensure plan rules allow you to supplement health insurance services with a DMPO membership.
Remember that DMPO membership is not the same as health insurance. You may receive discounted care, but you will be responsible for all discounted costs.
