How much can I contribute to an HSA every year?

You may make contributions to an HSA if you have health insurance with a 2006 deductible of no less than $1,050 for an individual or $2,100 for a family. For 2006, the contribution allowed is the amount of your deductible or $2,700 for single coverage or $5,450 for family coverage, whichever is less. In other words, if an individual's deductible is $1,500, he or she could only contribute that amount to the plan. If the deductible for an individual is $10,000, then he or she could only contribute $2,700. A family could contribute as much as $5,450 (unless their deductible is lower).
