Frequently Asked Questions

What are co-payments and deductibles?

A co-payment is a small payment you make for a health service or supply, such as a prescription, when it is delivered to you. Your health plan pays the rest, usually after being billed by the provider. A deductible is an amount that your health plan requires you to pay each year before your plan will start making payments for claims. For instance, a $1,000 deductible plan would require you to spend $1,000 before the plan begins to pay for health services. A deductible is traditionally associated with indemnity-type plans, but is becoming more common across other plans as the costs of healthcare rise.
